A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja,  nigeria’s capital granted bail to former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, days after he was remanded in Kuje prison, Abuja.

He was granted bail on self-recognition by Justice Anwuli Chikere, who said the court’s decision followed the failure of the prosecution to prove that Moro would interfere with the case against him if granted bail.

Justice Chikere also granted the Deputy Director in the Ministry, F.O. Alayebami and former Secretary in the Ministry, Anastasia Daniel Nwobia bail in the sum of N100 million each with one sureties in like sum.

According to the judge, the main essence of granting bail to Moro is for the accused to be available for trials and not to be imprisoned prior to trial.

She expressed belief that Moro, being a former minister with no criminal record, will not jump bail.

“Therefore he is granted bail on self recognition,” she said.

For the other two, the judge said the sureties must be in the position of Directors in the Federal Civil Service Commission and must submit two recent passport photographs.

Though granted bail, the international passports of the defendants were held by the court.

Moro alongside Alayebami and Daniel Nwobia are facing an 11 count over the employment scam in the Nigeria Immigration Service.
