Barely 48 hours to the election re-run into the Rivers State House of Assembly as well as the National Assembly, an Army Major and three other soldiers are said to have been killed in the state by gunmen.
The soldiers were killed on Thursday in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, according to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In a very short statement by the Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, Chris Finebone, the soldiers were killed on Thursday afternoon and their killers are yet to be known.
Finebone promised to give details of the incident as soon as such details are available.
