Professor Kamene Okonjo, 82, mother of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Prof Okonjo-Iweala has been kidnapped.
The octogenarian was kidnapped in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State on Sunday at about 1:30pm at the Obi’s palace in Ogbe-Ofu Quarters by about eight gun-wielding men who came in two Audi cars.
An eyewitness told Huhuonline.com that the gunmen pushed the aged woman into one of the Audi cars and immediately drove off the scene.
Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Mr. Charles Muka, confirmed the attack, saying the Police had received information on both the kidnap and how to arrest of the criminals.
