Bomb Blast in Gombe near President Jonathan`s Campaign Venue

President President Goodluck Jonathan narrowly escaped death on Monday after a car bomb exploded a few minutes after he left a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally at a stadium in Gombe.

Witnesses report that the explosion occurred about 200 meters away from the stadium, killing and injuring an unascertained number of people instantly..

An eyewitness said the president had just passed the parking lot with his convoy when the explosion happened.

No group has claimed responsibility of the bombing.
