Kingsley Kuku, the immediate past Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Amnesty issues is the latest of former government officials to face Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Kuku was summoned on Friday by the EFCC for questioning on 28th July.

The anti-graft agency had, days ago summoned the wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki for grilling.

Kuku is allegedly facing the EFCC over allegations that he diverted funds while he was in office.

His office managed the Amnesty programme through which former militants in the Niger Delta were adequately taken care of by the presidency.

Many former militants as well as militant leaders had raised concerns about how the programme was handled. On many occasions, they accused Kuku of embezzling funds meant for the programme, alleging that he was not transparent with tasks.

It is not known if the EFCC currently has a petition to the effect that Kuku is culpable.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesperson of the EFCC confirmed that Kuku had been summoned for appearance.
