Royal Family announces details for the state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II

The state funeral for Queen Elizabeth II will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday, September 19, the Royal Family announced on Saturday. 

Prior to the funeral, the Queen will lie in state for four days to allow the public to pay their respects. This comes after King Charles III was officially proclaimed as the new monarch in a ceremony on Saturday. 

A period of Royal Mourning is being observed until seven days after the Queen’s funeral, the Royal Family said in a statement.
