The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 68 legal practitioners.
The decision was reached during the committee’s 174th Plenary Session held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
The latest list comprises 67 advocates and one academic, with four women among the successful candidates.

The committee also approved the elevation of Prof. Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri as the sole successful academic applicant.
The rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is the highest professional distinction for legal practitioners in the country. It is conferred on lawyers and academics who have distinguished themselves through excellence in advocacy, scholarship, integrity, and outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
