The Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja was gutted by fire on Monday with valuables worth millions of naira destroyed.
It was learnt that the inferno resulted from a surge in the electrical installations at a section of the Banquet Hall around 5am before it extended to other parts.
Combined efforts of the the Lagos State Fire Service and the state’s Emergency Management Agency prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.
It was gathered that firefighters from the Alausa fire service station battled the inferno with three trucks of water before it was put out around 6am.
An emergency official said operation ended at the hotel around 10am, adding that nobody was injured.
“With quick response from all emergency agencies, we were able to salvage the situation. The fire was relatively much and properties worth millions of naira was destroyed. But no life was lost and nobody was injured,” he added.
