The divorce mess between popular Nigerian actress, Laide Bakare and her husband of many years, Olumide Okunfulire has deepened following the claim of the actress that the baby she was delivered of few days ago in the United States of America, belongs to her “newly found love.”
Fans of the sultry actress are now concluding that she must have been seeing the new man whose name was given as Tunde Oriowo while she was with her husband.
The conclusion followed the fact that Laide Bakare gave birth to the child few days ago, less than a month after she announced that she had divorced her husband for whom she had a daughter.
While Oriowo to whom she is not officially married has refused to comment on the controversy, Laide Bakare’s estranged husband is threatening to remain relentless in establishing the true paternity of the baby.
Okunfulire, who is claiming to be the father of the newly born baby boy, expressed shock at her claim that he was not the father of the baby.
“She’s saying that the baby belongs to one Mr. Tunde Oriowo. That’s a lie, wicked lie. I’m the biological father,” he told journalists who asked for his reaction. “I have pictures to show that we were always together, but she deliberately kept the pregnancy out of my knowledge.”
Okunfulire said he was prepared for a DNA test to prove that he is truly the father of the child and urged Nigerians to ask Laide to submit for the test.
Speaking through her publicist in May this year, the top Yoruba actress revealed that she is no longer married to Okunfulire, her US-based husband.
“We would like to announce to the general public on behalf of Nollywood star actress, Laide Bakare that she has officially opted out of her relationship with Mr. Okunfulire, her former husband,” a statement read.
“While it lasted, the actress showed the utmost level of maturity, in spite of ‘glaring injustice’ from her former husband. Laide has endured the marriage with Mr. Okunfulire to whom she displayed total affection. But things fell apart when she discovered that she was indeed married to a man with a legally married wife and two children not, a single man she thought he was, as told her by Mr. Okunfulire when the relationship started.
“But, being a celebrity who has become a model to young persons in the society, coupled with the need to exercise decorum, she has kept fate with the marriage until lately when she could no longer continue and then called it quit. Her former union with Mr. Okunfulire produced a beautiful child, Similoluwa who is nicknamed Chelsea.”
