President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his administration’s economic reforms are beginning to produce positive results, with Nigeria recording greater fiscal stability and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

The President made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from Deloitte Africa, led by the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Ruwayda Redfearn, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu said the government’s financial and fiscal reforms, implemented over the past three years, have strengthened the economy despite the difficult adjustments required to achieve long-term stability.

He described the reforms as necessary measures aimed at rebuilding the country’s economic foundation and improving Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global marketplace.

“Reforms are never easy, but they are essential for lasting progress,” the President said. “Our revenue reforms will continue to drive growth. Although the process has required sacrifices, the economy is responding positively, and Nigeria is making significant foundational progress.”

He added that the reforms have improved the country’s fiscal and revenue framework, strengthened financial institutions, and positioned Nigeria for greater economic opportunities.

The President also called on Deloitte Africa to expand its role in Nigeria by supporting youth development through training, skills acquisition, and employment opportunities. He recalled the firm’s reputation for developing professionals, noting that its training culture had long been recognised in the accounting profession.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, said the government’s reform agenda is creating new opportunities for economic growth and encouraged Deloitte to collaborate with the administration in building the capacity of young Nigerians.

Speaking on behalf of Deloitte Africa, Chief Executive Officer Ruwayda Redfearn said the organisation is committed to supporting Nigeria’s economic transformation.

She noted that Deloitte operates in countries across the world with a workforce of more than 500,000 employees, including over 6,000 across Africa, and generated $74 billion in revenue in 2025.

“Our local team, supported by our global network, stands ready to work with your administration and contribute to Nigeria’s development agenda,” she said.

Also addressing the meeting, Deloitte Africa Chief Executive Officer Yomi Olugbenro said the firm believes the government’s reforms have created a solid platform for growth but stressed that the next challenge is ensuring that the benefits are felt by ordinary Nigerians.

According to him, Deloitte is prepared to draw on its international experience in supporting governments to help Nigeria maximise the gains of its ongoing reforms.

He said the firm remains ready to partner with the Federal Government in areas where its global expertise can add value and accelerate the delivery of economic benefits to citizens.
