The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated that the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will come to an end today, Sunday, July 26, 2026, urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final hours to register or update their voter records.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Sunday, the electoral body emphasized that completing the CVR process is essential for citizens who intend to vote in the 2027 general election.
“Time is running out, but there’s still an opportunity to make your voice count,” the commission said.
“Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) today, Sunday, 26 July 2026.”
INEC encouraged Nigerians who have not yet registered to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any of its state and local government offices before the exercise officially closes.
The commission also reminded the public that the exercise covers voter transfers, correction of personal information, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The nationwide voter registration exercise was conducted in three phases over the past year. The first phase began in August 2025 with online pre-registration, while physical registration commenced on August 25. By the end of December, INEC had recorded 2,572,054 completed registrations, made up of 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 completed through physical enrollment.
The second phase, which ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, recorded an additional 3,748,704 completed registrations nationwide.
The commission launched the third phase in May 2026 and later extended the exercise by two weeks in July to allow more eligible Nigerians to participate.
With the registration window set to close today, INEC urged prospective voters not to delay, stressing that only those who complete the Continuous Voter Registration process will be eligible to participate in the 2027 general election.
