The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure that victims of insecurity across the country receive equal attention, warning against what it described as a pattern of selective response to kidnapping and violent attacks.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party questioned the government’s efforts to secure the release of 176 residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, who were abducted on February 3, 2026, and are still being held captive.
The ADC said while the recent rescue of abductees in Oyo State was commendable, Nigerians are equally entitled to know the fate of those still in captivity in Kaiama, Borno and other parts of the country.
The opposition party also pointed to the recent abduction of 40 residents in Zamfara State, fresh attacks in Benue State, and the reported kidnapping of Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, as evidence that insecurity remains a major challenge.
According to the ADC, repeated assurances by the President that insecurity would soon be defeated are no longer sufficient without visible results. The party called on the Federal Government to provide regular updates on ongoing rescue efforts and demonstrate that every Nigerian life is valued equally, regardless of location.
“The President owes Nigerians more than broad assurances. He owes them regular updates, timelines and evidence that no community has been abandoned,” the statement said.
The ADC maintained that leadership should be measured by concrete action rather than public declarations, stressing that the abducted residents of Woro, victims in Borno, Zamfara, Benue and other affected communities deserve the same urgency, compassion and presidential attention accorded to every successful rescue.
